Immigration trouble for Bush

This diary from RedState on Bush's immigration policy is worth reading--as are some of the comments reflecting gross misconceptions of Democratic priorities.

The simple fact of the matter is, border enforcement (as well as cargo container inspection) is a non-partisan security issue, and should be treated as such. The Democrats need to specify a plan that dramatically increased border funding, and ties the money spent in the occupation of Iraq to our inability to fund the border.

As Durbin said in his speech on the Senate floor blogged immediately below, over half those in this country illegally didn't sneak here across the border--their once-valid visas expired. So border enforcement is only half of the issue. The other half of the issue is increased funding for INS enforcement.

This is a huge opportunity to make Republican heads explode.
