A fiasco in the introduction of the presidential Dollar coins: some were struck without the "In God We Trust" legend! This, of course, has spawned conspiracy theories that it was intentionally omitted as yet another "liberal" swipe at "Christian" values.
Of course, it turns out that all the edge lettering is missing--which includes the mint identification letter (P for Philadelphia or D for Denver), as well as E Pluribus Unum--which is the actual motto of the United States. So I prefer to wonder not why the U.S. Mint wants to persecute Christians, but rather indeed why the U.S. mint...um...hates the United States. Who knows...maybe it's an affirmation of states' rights.
